Between 21 and 23 November, for the first time in the course thus far of the GEI’s project on Albanian-language textbooks in south-eastern Europe, a joint Albanian, Serbian, Bosnian and Montenegrin seminar took placein Gracanica, a town with a Serbian majority near Prishtina. The participants, from Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia, tested two units from the Euroclio book ‚Once upon a time… we lived together‘: http://www.euroclio.eu/new/index.php/publications/educational-material-mainmenu-391
In small groups, participants discussed terrorism and Albanian resistance in the kingdom of Yugoslavia, then going on to develop teaching materials or a manuscript of one chapter of a textbook on the First World War.
Most participants were accommodated in the wonderful Hotel Gracanica with its lovely staff, homemade meals, wood-based interior design, wonderful views over the countryside and relaxing in the cosy ‚Oda‘ (circular sitting area) with its fireplace. You can pay a virtual visit at http://www.hotelgracanica.com/
The participants hope to meet again in Tirana in March for the last seminar in the series, which will be on visual sources in textbooks, the First World War and issues around its interpretation, and will also discuss the work the attendees have been doing in the seminars
